I had a few companies in mind that I thought were behind this fabulous design, but I was surprised to see that it is made by Robe Factory, as previously I had only known them for their bathrobes and pyjamas. Curious, I did a little online reading – the brand Robe Factory did indeed start with robes and pyjamas, but have since expanded on to a huge range of products, and changed their name to UKONIC, with Robe Factory as a division.
Our initial products were high quality, uniquely designed robes and loungewear. We’ve broadened our horizons and expanded our product lines.

As it turns out, I own quite a few UKONIC items, including their awesome Star Wars rugs! It is exciting to see another licensed company entering the world of Star Wars fashion – I can’t wait to see what other designs they will release!
Inspired by Rey’s jedi training outfit from The Last Jedi, this dark brown blazer features contrasting grey sleeves and collar, in reference to Rey’s costume colours. The brown faux leather belt closes the blazer, and the lining fabric features a Baroque Rebel pattern, with 2 interior pockets. The finishing touch is the removable Rebel symbol pin.
The main body is made from a brown outer fabric which has a texture like crepe fabric, and is made from 63% polyester / 5% lycra / 3% viscose. The sleeves and lapel/collar are made from a grey textured fabric, and is made from 100% polyester. The inner garment tag notes this blazer is dry clean only (also noted in the ThinkGeek website listing details).
The first thing that struck me when I first saw this blazer in person – the lining! I am just in love with this lining fabric! Seriously, it is gorgeous. The Baroque style repeating pattern features the Resistance ‘starbird’ symbol surrounded by scrolling designs, and even smaller starbird symbols in the joining line patterns.
There are 2 pockets inside the front of the jacket, 1 on each side – these are fully sewn, and close with a grey button and loop. These are positioned around chest height, rather than around waist/hip height, which is a standard suit jacket/blazer design. The pocket openings are edged in the same grey fabric as the collar and sleeves, which compliments the lining fabric nicely.
The pocket opening measures approximately 10.5cm across, while the pockets measure approximately 14cm deep – a great size for credit cards, cash, keys etc. Inside the pockets are sewn from the same printed lining fabric.
The inner lining fabric has a small pleat in the upper center back, to add some ease to the lining. The lining fabric is 100% polyester, with a lovely satin-like feel. I seriously want this pattern on everything – scarves, dresses, blouses… it makes me so happy to see a beautiful Rebel themed design. For fans who can’t wear strongly/obviously Star Wars branded attire to work, having the Rebel symbols on the inner lining is a great compromise – wearing your fandom close to the chest, like the location of a hidden Rebel base.
The sleeves are constructed with 2 lengthwise seams, like a standard suit jacket. At the lower end of the sleeve, the seams are gathered, to give a ruched effect. This evokes the arm wrappings Rey wears with her new jedi training outfit (as well as her earlier Jakku outfit). This grey fabric is more textured than the main brown fabric – the mix of textures is another lovely element of costume design brought into this garment.
The sleeves are fully lined with the same printed lining fabric as the body – it extends all the way to the sleeve hem. Again, the seams are all neatly finished, as you would expect from a blazer.
The front of the blazer tapers into 2 points, which I find to be a very flattering style. While this isn’t a direct costume design element, the points somehow feel more ‘jedi costume inspired’ than a flat straight across hemline. The front points extend lower than the hem at the back.
Inside the full front edges are lined with the grey fabric, following from the collar down to the pointed hems. This panel coordinates nicely with the lining fabric, and when wearing the blazer open, this grey edging mimics the appearance of Rey’s grey tabbard sashes. The pointed front lower hems are all finished with very tidy seams, and the points are sewn at a tight angle.
The blazer features a brown belt to tie closed at the front when wearing. This is perhaps one of the more obvious costume inspired elements, due to the colour and material used. The brown belt is made from 2 layers of brown faux leather, seamed together at the edges with no top stitching. The faux leather is soft, so it can be tied in a knot to close the blazer. The ends of the belt are finished in point, which echoes the shape of the front of the blazer.
The blazer has 2 belt loops, 1 on each side, sewn at the waistline. The loops are sewn from the same brown fabric as the main body, and finished with 2 rows of matching colour top stitching. These loops keep the belt at a nice position around the waist – when worn, the belt lies over the waist seam across the back of the blazer.
The faux leather belt is not attached to the blazer, it is removable in case you prefer to wear it without the belt, or wear with a different belt of your choosing. I love this belt – another subtle touch of the original costume inspiration, and the colour coordinates nicely with the blazer fabrics.
The back of the jacket has princess seams (curved seams from waist seam to sleeve seam), centre back seam, and horizontal waist seam – these all give a nice fitted shape to the jacket. The seams are pressed flat, to reduce bulk and help keep a smooth, sleek finish.
Of course, one of the gorgeous finishing touches is the Resistance pin on the lapel. This is a symbol used on other The Last Jedi fashion and apparel (like this gorgeous Loungefly Canto Bight handbag that is also available at ThinkGeek), and it is one of my favourite versions of the classic Rebel ‘starbird’ symbol. The gold detail lines are raised against the black background – the pin measures approximately 2.5cm high.
The pin has a standard style silver-tone backing, and can be removed. This accessory is a great bonus – the black and gold Resistance symbol is gorgeous, and a subtle Star Wars touch to the outside of the blazer. This blazer is perfect for fans who want Star Wars inspired fashion to wear to work – the only Star Wars branding visible on the outside is the pin, which is easily removed if you wish – and the beautiful lining still keeps the Star Wars branding evident to you, but hidden to others when worn.
At the inner back neckline, there is a small panel of brown fabric, which features a garment loop for hanging (made from the lining fabric), a printed Star Wars logo tag, an embroidered Star Wars garment tag, and sizing/country of manufacture tag. The care instructions are listed on the garment tag which is sewn into the inner left side seam.
Lastly, the front of the jacket has a metal hook and eye closure, sewn just below the ends of the lapels, around waist height. This keeps the jacket closed a little more neatly than with the faux leather belt on its own, and follows the original costume design by not introducing visible ‘real world’ closures like buttons.
This jacket is a size XS – approximate measurements taken on garment lying flat –

- 36.5cm – Top shoulder seam to shoulder seam (straight across the back)
- 43.5cm – Sleeve length (underam to wrist hem)
- 55cm – Body length (back collar seam to lower back hem)
- 148cm – Belt length (tip to tip)
As the blazer only closes at the waist, this allows for a little more room at the bust and hips.
I loved this blazer the moment I saw it – while of course I love Rey themed fashion, this design really stood out to me. Blazers are a wardrobe item that female Star Wars fans want more of, something stylish and subtle to wear to work. This Rey design has a perfect blend of all the elements I look for – thoughtful design, attention to detail, quality feel, affordable price point, and comfortable to wear – and bonus points for beautiful Star Wars lining fabric!
As Rey’s original Jakku outfit was designed for her rough scavenger lifestyle, I was unsure whether we would see any formal clothing designs inspired by her outfits. This blazer takes her jedi training outfit and transforms it to stylish attire – so you can wear your love of Star Wars and Rey to work, or anywhere, ready to take on the First Order while looking fabulous.
