Our local New Zealand convention Armageddon changed one of it’s events to a different city – one that is much closer to where I live, so I was keen to check out the new event. The Armageddon Expo in Manukau was held this weekend, and I was delighted to find more Star Wars fashion that I had expected. The Body Vibe x Star Wars range of jewelry was available from several vendors, along with Loungefly handbags and wallets, caps, and even some women’s apparel! You can check out my photos below – please note the prices shown the photos are in New Zealand dollars.
My first stop was Mighty Ape, one of my favourite locally based webstores – last year they begun stocking Loungefly and Body Vibe products, so I was keen to see what they might have on hand at the expo. The Loungefly range included the R2-D2 mini dome bag and matching wallet, the Darth Vader tattoo tote bag, Ewok crossbody bag, and the tattoo print wallet. I was excited to see quite a few new Body Vibe x Star Wars items available – including the BB-8 cameo necklace, R2-D2 and Leia/Han expandable bracelets, and the fantastic Rey themed bracelet set. They also had several styles of Star Wars caps available.
My next stop was the stand ‘My Pop Culture’ who had a great range of Body Vibe x Star Wars stud earrings available, and also some of the necklaces. I hadn’t heard of this store before (they are not based in my city), so this was a great discovery. I love seeing items in person – being able to see the different types of stud earrings together is always useful when trying to decide on your favourites. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on their website to see if/when they bring in new stock.
Locally based store Vagabond had a great deal of ‘buy one, get one half price’ on their range of Body Vibe x Star Wars jewelry – most of their range was the original collection of necklaces, like the AT-AT necklace (one of my favourites from that first wave – you can read my review here).
I also spotted a women’s Chewbacca hoodie and R2-D2 t-shirt amongst the apparel booths – finding women’s Star Wars apparel is not very common here. A friend of mine wore a skirt she had made from Star Wars fabric (available in New Zealand and Australia at Spotlight stores) – she looked great!
