The very first booth on my list to visit was of course Musterbrand. I have been a huge fan of their design style since the launch of their first Star Wars collection, and each subsequent release has only reaffirmed their place as a leader in the Star Wars fashion market. Based in Europe, their Celebration Orlando booth gave US fans a chance to see their range in person, as well as a very exciting reveal of their brand new Star Wars footwear collection!
It was very exciting to see the Musterbrand x Star Wars footwear finally revealed to the public! I had seen a few designs earlier, and was just in awe! I am obsessed with the Skywalker X-Wing heel design – especially the Rebel code cylinder design for the heel! I really love unique and artistic footwear designs, and this is everything I could want – just stunning.
I was honoured to be able to talk to the talented designer behind the footwear. I loved his story about the design process, he really has a passion for his craft. It always shows when the people behind a design are fans themselves – they really pay attention to all the details. I can’t stop obsessing about this heel design, it is just so fabulous!
As well as the gorgeous heels, the footwear range also includes several styles of flats. My favourite of course is the pair inspired by Princess Leia’s outfit from Jabba’s palace (green suede with gold embroidered detail). This is a perfect costume inspired design that can blend into your wardrobe – so subtle you can wear it anywhere, but fans will instantly recognise the inspiration. I am always happy to see female characters featured in Star Wars apparel.
Of course I am not shy about declaring my love of Star Wars, so I’m happy to see some bolder, classic designs in the footwear range, like the Darth Vader and Stormtrooper flats. Simple and clean, these will easily be an every-day staple! There were a few versions on display – black flats with Darth Vader, white flats with Stormtooper, and black flats with Stormtrooper.
The men’s sneakers are fabulous as well – although my feet are too small to fit men’s sizes, I really love the Skywalker X-Wing sneaker, with removable ‘vest’ panel. The panel is attached with 4 elastic loops, which hook around silver-tone metal studs – the shoes can be worn with or without the panel, for versatility. These 2 men’s styles are already available to pre-order direct from Musterbrand –
- Darth Vader men’s shoes – €219.00 – Euro sizes 40 to 47
- Skywalker X-Wing men’s shoes – €229.00 – Euro sizes 40 to 47
Of course it was fantastic to see much of the Musterbrand x Star Wars apparel range available at the convention. Fans could try on garments in person, to determine their preferred size, in front of long mirrors (always useful).
The range available at the convention included some of my favourite Musterbrand items, like the Jyn Erso jacket, and the Sith Lady coat (both the limited edition version and standard version). You can read my full review of the Jyn jacket here – it is my absolute favourite Rogue One apparel item, a stylish blend of everyday style with costume inspiration. I loved seeing the Rogue scarf paired with the Jyn jacket – I definitely need to pick that one up myself to match my jacket, they make a great complimentary set.
Even though I had already spent a while at the booth on the first day, I found myself stopping by each day. Musterbrand has a great company philosophy, about providing stylish apparel for fans that goes beyond simple t-shirts. They have some truly awesome designs in the works, I can’t wait to see what they will release this year!
If you missed the chance to visit the booth, all these items are available to buy from the Musterbrand website – they can ship internationally! Stay tuned for an update about the fabulous women’s footwear collection coming soon!
