It is January 1st 2018 here in New Zealand – Happy New Year!
2017 was a fantastic year for women’s Star Wars fashion – so many of our favourite brands released fabulous Star Wars fashion, as well as many new brands launching tie-in collections to celebrate the release of The Last Jedi. It was a year of growth of female Star Wars character representation in fashion, with newcomer Jyn Erso included alongside Rey and Princess Leia in many collections throughout 2017.
Of course the big highlight for me this year was my panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. In April 2017 I presented my panel ‘The Growing Galaxy Of Women’s Star Wars Fashion’ as part of the Collecting Track – an exciting experience and I am so honoured to have had the opportunity to speak on a Star Wars topic I am so passionate about. If you weren’t able to attend, the full panel is available online, with a full text transcript and photos, as well as full-length video from the live panel – check it all out here.
Of course it wouldn’t be life without a few downs as well – I went through some tough personal experiences, as I’m sure a lot of us did. Just a few days ago marked the one year anniversary that Carrie Fisher passed away – a very sad day for Star Wars fans everywhere. But the New Year always brings about new hopes and goals – and a new Star Wars Han Solo film only months away!
Wishing you all a wonderful and fashionable 2018! 🙂
