Hello there! Great to see you again. So, where was I?
This blog started as a passion project, and for a while there, I lost my passion. Burnout, though I didn’t want to admit it. The past two years haven’t been fun for anyone, so I’m totally on board with anyone taking more time for self care, for any reason. So, I finally let myself take a break. Away from the anxiety of social media, I was able to focus on myself and getting back on track.
Through it all, I never lost my love of Star Wars and fashion. I have still been collecting my favourites, tracking down wish list items, and celebrating Star Wars with my wardrobe. I can’t wait to share it all here on my blog. Also, who else is pumped for The Book Of Boba Fett?!
So what else have I been up to this year? To sum it up – finding my joy. Spending time with family during lockdowns, watching movies, gaming, baking, working on projects around home, and doing anything that brought us happiness.
In-between lockdowns, I was able to attend a few smaller local conventions around New Zealand this year. It has been really fun to check out the regional events – in the past we have mainly attended the big main Auckland event. I really enjoyed checking out all the smaller fan booths, and picked up a few items at each event. Some of my favourite finds include a Luke Skywalker inspired lip scrub from Oasis Scents and Stormtrooper dangle earrings from Bow Wow Boutique.
Last week, I won an iPhone 13! Little bit of backstory – I’ve never had a smartphone. Don’t get me wrong, I do own my fair share of tech (laptops, PC, iPad etc), but somehow a phone was just never on the shopping list. My iPad always handled what I wanted to do, and my wish list is always full of Star Wars fashion and collectibles, so it wasn’t a priority. So yeah, I now finally have a phone, and have been spending the past few days getting it all set up. I choose the colour ‘starlight’ white as it reminded me of Princess Leia. I realise that winning a new phone is pretty lucky, so this win has been a source of inspiration and motivation.
There’s been another big distraction for me this year, a project that is coming along nicely, with some big help from my parents. It’s been quite an adventure, and I’m not quite ready to reveal it, just yet. It’s not fashion-related, but as a family of Star Wars fans, this project has been one of the highlights of our year.
May the Force be with you!
