Today’s mail call features the Galaxy’s Edge Rey vest and shirt. I love to collect Rey inspired fashion (alongside the other leading ladies), so my wardrobe already includes a few Rey vest versions. After seeing photos of fans wearing the Galaxy’s Edge Rey vest at the Disney Parks, I was curious how it would compare to my other vests. Would it be great quality, or a cheap souvenir?

As I have not been able to visit Galaxy’s Edge yet, I was so excited when Shop Disney announced they would be releasing selected Galaxy’s Edge park merchandise on the website. The teaser images showed the Rey vest, which has been at the top of my shopping list – but they also had the matching shirt! I grabbed both as soon as the collection launched online, and after a bit of a wait for international shipping, I’m so excited to get my hands on them.
As these were originally park exclusives, most fans would have the opportunity to see these in person before buying. I knew it was a little bit of a gamble buying online, like always – but these were both above and beyond my expectations! For the price, I was expecting something a little thinner, you know, a light weight outfit for a day at the parks in summer. But this vest even has wool in it!
The fabric texture of this set is really lovely – it doesn’t feel like a cheap Halloween costume at all. I honestly couldn’t stop running my hands over them. Not flimsy or thin at all. The seaming and structure of the vest holds shape well, and both the vest and shirt are completely lined as well. I just love the top stitching detail on the edges, just adds that finishing touch of authenticity.
I already have the Disney Parks Luke/Rey lightsaber that was released a few years ago (a wonderful birthday gift from my parents), so now I have an amazing Rey everyday cosplay to match. Of all of Rey’s outfits in the films, her ‘Resistance’ vest and pants outfit from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi is the easiest to translate into a wearable everyday cosplay outfit. I have a few versions of an inspired Rey vest from different brands, but this is by far the closest to the real costume. Now I’m all ready for a journey to Batuu.
May the Force be with you!
