Covergirl officially launched their Star Wars cosmetics collection on Force Friday, but shoppers reported problems with trying to order on-line. Covergirl acknowledged the technical glitches, and posted the following on their Instagram account –

Good news is you can now pre-order select products via covergirl.com, and the entire collection will be available for purchase online and in stores later this month. Thanks for sticking with us!
Searching for ‘Star Wars’ on the Covergirl website lists the following ‘Star Wars Limited Edition’ products (prices may vary depending on retailer) –
- Coloricious Lipstick – US$6.99
– 6 colours – Silver 10, Lilac 20, Red 30, Gold 40, Dark Purple 50, Nude 70 - Outlast Nail Polish – US$5.49
– 6 colours – Fury 93, Nuclear 97, Mutant 101, Red Revenge 180, Nemesis 195, Speed of Light 200 - Super Sizer Dark Side Mascara – US$6.85

The mascaras feature 10 different quotes – 5 for the ‘Dark Side’ and 5 for the ‘Light Side’ – personally this seems an odd choice, as I would much prefer to collection different colours of lipsticks/nail polish than 10 black mascaras. A lightsaber-themed mascara tube would have been much more interesting – not sure why the packaging has minimal Star Wars influence (besides the logo), when their ‘inspired looks’ are so bold. In any case, I’m really hoping stock will be available here in New Zealand soon!

Covergirl held a #BeautyForce event in New York yesterday, revealing Janelle Monae as part of the Star Wars campaign, with her look titled ‘Resistance Pilot’. A ‘Dark Apprentice’ look was also revealed – while the intro video on the Covergirl x Star Wars Tumblr has quick shots of some of the other yet-to-be-fully-revealed looks!
