In late October, Thinkgeek released this exclusive BB-8 bead charm. Made by Body Vibe, it is part of their Star Wars bead charm range, which is designed fit European-style charm bracelets like Pandora. Priced at US$34.99, the BB-8 charm is still available from Thinkgeek (they can ship internationally). As I already have a collection of Body Vibe x Star Wars charms, this one was definitely on my shopping list – it’s the first The Force Awakens themed charm in their range, and I hope there’s many more soon to come!
The BB-8 bead charm came packaged on a cardboard backing card like the other beads in the range – but the card is now black (instead of the earlier grey/orange design), and features The Force Awakens logo to one side. This bead charm is a dangle design, in that the BB-8 charm hangs from a ring. Some of the other Star Wars dangle charms feature Aurabesh on the ring, some are plain – the ring for this BB-8 charm features a repeating pattern that looks inspired by BB-8’s markings. BB-8 measures approximately 15mm in height (not including the hanger rings). The head is fixed onto the body – it doesn’t rotate or move, so it’s nice and secure. The detail on BB-8’s head and body is really nice, even at such a small scale – the imprinted lines are all accented in black. I’m so happy to have BB-8 to add to my Star Wars charm bracelet – the charm can also be worn on a necklace as a small pendant.
