Recently I picked up a few items from Spencers, including a Star Wars ring set made by Bioworld. The set includes three metal adjustable rings featuring Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Stormtrooper. The bands are wider than I expected, measuring approximately 20mm across (compared to vintage ring diameters of approximately 15mm). This is a little too wide for my fingers, and will have to cross the bands over tighter to wear securely. A little unusual for rings designed for women, but I suppose they are ‘one size fits all’ whereas the vintage Wallace Berrie rings were marked ‘small to medium’.
The front details are nice and clear, with enamel sections adding a nice gloss (a little more subtle on the Darth Vader ring compared to the other two). I was a little worried about the stalk on the Boba Fett ring, but it feels very sturdy and not likely to break without significant and deliberate force. The Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmets measure approximately 2cm tall, Boba Fett measures just a little taller at 2.2cm. The stormtrooper helmet is the same size as the matching earrings also made by Bioworld, they make a nice set. The backs are stamped with ‘(c) Lucasfilm Ltd & TM’. They usually retail for US$16.99 but making use of a sale I paid US$12.08 – not bad for three rings. They are still available at Spencers – though the photo only shows the Darth Vader ring, with no information about the other two rings in the set.
