Today’s review features the Bioworld x Rogue One Rebel debossed clutch. Released in October last year, the Rebel clutch is my favourite from the fantastic Bioworld range of Rogue One bags and wallets. This is the same shape and style as the earlier R2-D2 ‘beep bloop’ clutch, which is one of my favourite go-to clutches.

The Rebel clutch is made from a green faux leather, with the debossed text ‘REBEL’ on the front, 2 hanging pendants, a small faux leather patch on the back, and printed details. The debossed text is raised, with a darker tone outline to help accentuate the detail. The design has a great balance of looking ‘weathered’ like the Rebel costumes in Rogue One, but still stylish for a night out.
The design on the back of the clutch has touches of costume design – the green printed stripes are inspired by details on Rebel outfits, while the ‘black ‘V’ on small circle’ design is seen on X-Wing pilot helmets. There are 2 rows of top stitching on either side of the central printed stripe design, which adds a nice level of texture.
The back also features a small beige faux leather patch, which has a small printed Rebel Alliance ‘starbird’ symbol, and the text ‘Rebel Alliance’. The patch is attached with top stitching, and also has 4 silver tone stud details, one in each corner.
Attached to the left side of the clutch are 2 pendants, hanging from a silver tone chain. The first is a Rebel Alliance ‘starbird’ symbol pendant, while the second is a black faux leather tassel. The pendants dangle from a chain attached to the seam, and are not removable – but I would never want to take them off, they are such a great details.
The Rebel Alliance symbol is one of my favourite details of this clutch, it is very pretty in person. The front is raised with a 3D shape, which really looks amazing with the shiny silver tone finish. The back is flat and features the standard Lucasfilm copyright text, noting this is a licensed item. It feels like solid metal, and has a little bit of weight to it – I love the way it ‘jingles’ against the tassel pendant. The Rebel Alliance symbol pendant measures approximately 4cm by 4cm, while the faux leather tassel measures approximately 5cm long.
The clutch closes with a top zip – the green zipper backing matches the faux leather of the clutch, which is always nice to see. The zipper ‘teeth’ are silver tone plastic, with a silver tone metal zipper pull. I like the sturdiness of the zipper pull, which is a good size for grasping easily.
Inside the clutch is lined with plain black lining fabric. There are no pockets inside, which is pretty standard for a small size clutch. The clutch measures approximately 22cm by 12cm – it easily fits a smartphone, keys, credit cards etc.
While inspired by Rogue One, this clutch works for any Rebel Alliance themed outfit. It has always been easier to find ‘Dark Side’ themed handbags (Darth Vader, Boba Fett), so it was very exciting to see some great ‘Light Side’ Rebel Alliance themed fashion released for Rogue One. Now we just need more Jedi themed handbags!
