I loved the Loungefly x Star Wars collection from those first few preview photos, and once the full collection was revealed, I knew which ones I had to have. My favourite pieces are the Black/White comic print faux leather duffle and the Darth Vader Darkside black patent dome bag. As Loungefly.com doesn’t ship internationally, I tracked down a web store that had both my favourites in stock – Modernpinup.com. At the time, the value of the two bags qualified my order for free international shipping, which is always a great bonus!
Today I’ll review the Darth Vader dome bag. This style is available in two sizes, I purchased the larger version. There wasn’t much of a price difference, and I don’t have many larger size handbags. It comes with it’s own dust bag – the comic print bag did not come with one, I believe it may be only the stamped patent bags in the range that do? Any way, I was impressed with this bag as soon as I took it out – the shine of the faux patent leather is great. The embossed pattern features Darth Vader, the Imperial logo and a TIE X1 Advanced. The bag measures approximately 30cm x 38cm x 18cm, a good large size handbag. I paid US$67 for mine from Modernpinup, compared to US$75 direct from Loungefly.
As with the comic print bag, the lining fabric features the Star Wars logo, and has two fabric pockets on one side, and a zip up compartment on the other. The top zipper has two zipper pulls, so you don’t need to open it up all the way to access inside. The bag handles are attached with metal studs featuring the Imperial cog, a great detail. There is also an embossed Darth Vader tag attached to one handle with it’s own buckled strap, completely removable if you wish. The sides are very sturdy, the bag sits well on it’s own even when empty. The front features the same metal Star Wars logo plaque as on the comic print bag. The bottom has four metal stud ‘feet’ to protect the bag when it’s put down.
This bag goes great with the Darth Vader 3d coin clutch – you can see them together in my photo above. Also for size comparison here is a photo of all my Loungefly x Star Wars items. After seeing these in person, I’m rather tempted to buy a few more items in the range!
