Back in mid-September Ashley Eckstein posted a preview photo of her wearing a Darth Vader knitted sweater, and I knew I wanted it straight away. It was finally stocked online at Hot Topic at the start of November – so I quickly ordered it. The standard retail price is US$49.50 – US$53.50 – I paid US$39.60 during a sale. It is currently still available in sizes XS to 3X. Hot Topic can ship internationally, which is great for international fans wanting to purchase Her Universe items.
The Darth Vader knitted sweater is made from 100% acrylic, so no worries if you have a wool allergy. I consider it a medium-weight knit, nice and warm without being heavy. The white Darth Vader helmet design is part of the knit, not printed on top – it has that classic knitted/pixelated style. The sweater has a straight hem, which is slightly longer at the back – there is a small split up both sides. The side seams are straight, there is no fit through the waist – but I wouldn’t expect that from a loose fit sweater like this.
I bought mine in size XS – it measures approximately 50cm across the chest (underarm to underarm), 50cm across the front hem, and 59cm from front neckline to front hem. This sweater is a relaxed fit, great for keeping snuggly and warm in colder weather – though as it’s summer here in New Zealand I have to wait a few months before I can wear it! Items on the Her Universe website note the size the model(s) are wearing, which is really helpful when ordering online – Hot Topic does not, so I was a little unsure about ordering the smallest size. I was really happy to see that this sweater doesn’t run small, and has a great comfortable fit – perfect for wearing over a few layers in winter.
