During my trip to Anaheim for the Run Disney Star Wars event in January, I had the opportunity to check out The World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. Amongst the great range of Star Wars fashion available was a great selection of Disney Star Wars jewelry, and I couldn’t resist picking up a few items from the collection.
Today’s review features the Disney x Star Wars ‘May The Force Be With You’ bracelet. During my visit in January, the bracelet was priced at US$16.99 each (plus tax), in Disney’s ‘tan’ jewelry price category. Neither the bracelet or the tag carry any mention of the material the bracelet is made from, so I’m not sure. While this bracelet isn’t available from the online Disney Store, it does show up on eBay from time to time – for example, there is currently one available from this seller.
The ‘May The Force Be With You’ bracelet features four segments of silver-tone metal, held together with bands of elastic. The classic Star Wars quote ‘May The Force Be With You’ is featured twice – stamped into the metal segments, and highlighted with black. The silver-tone metal has a nice shiny finish, which really helps the black lettering stand out. I really like that the quote is used twice, so there is very little blank space – bracelets tend to rotate when worn, so this ensures the featured quote is always visible.
Between two quote segments, the bracelet has a small charm of the Star Wars logo. The logo is accented with black antiquing, and the charm is stamped with ‘(c) LFL on the back, noting this is a licensed item. I really like the touch of the small charm – it adds that great charm bracelet ‘jingle’ sound. The charm is light, and doesn’t hang too long, so it doesn’t ‘bang’ against your wrist like some heavier charms can. The charm measures approximately 15mm by 7mm (not including the hanging rings).
The bracelet measures approximately 17.8cm in circumference, while the segments measure approximately 6mm high and 3mm deep. It stretches well to fit over my hand, and for me, it sits comfortably and loosely on my wrist when worn. The elastic component is a long strand threaded through the metal segments in a loop many times, and tied in a tight knot. Obviously the elastic can be deliberately cut, but it feels quite sturdy, and being recessed within the back of the metal segments helps protect the strands.
I really love the use of the ‘May The Force Be With You’ quote on accessories – it’s a wonderful affirmation to wear as a reminder during your day. While this isn’t an expensive item of jewelry, it’s a great little accessory for it’s price.
