I knew after receiving my first order of We Love Fine x Goldie Star Wars items that I’d be drawn back for more. My latest purchase from the collection is the ‘Darth Strikes Back’ dress, a black skater dress styled after Darth Vader.
It features the same mesh back as the Death Star Battle dress, but this dress has the plastic gold Star Wars logo patch sewn on at the back (mentioned in the website description but not visible in the preview images). I thought the front chest box detail was printed on the dress – it is actually a pleather patch sewn on with a border of metallic silver satin stitching. The pleather section is printed with Darth Vader’s chest box details, which as the dress name implies, uses the correct Empire Strikes Back version. The pleather panel is fantastic detail I was not expecting (it’s not mentioned on the website), it really adds that extra touch. There are lots of women’s tops and dresses that use Darth Vader’s outfit for design, for me this dress is an excellent version of the theme.
I ordered mine in size small – it measures approximately 37cm across the chest (underarm to underarm), 34cm across the waist seam, with a skirt length of approximately 37.5cm from seam to hem. The back mesh panel is see-through, with the garment tag sewn at the back waist seam, so I’ll make sure it’s tucked down when wearing. The dress fabric is 95% polyester, 5% spandex, while the mesh panel is 85% nylon, 15% spandex. The fabric is a good weight, and the flared skater skirt has a nice drape. It retails for US$50 at We Love Fine, a great addition to my wardrobe.
