Just over a week ago Han Cholo released their Shadow Series of stainless steel Star Wars jewelry – and I eagerly ordered one of my favourites for the collection, the Darth Vader lightsaber cuff. This is a new item from Han Cholo, as the design wasn’t part of their first sterling silver collection. The cuff is available direct from Han Cholo, priced at US$65.00 and is available in one size.
The cuff arrived inside a velvet jewelry bag featuring the Han Cholo logo printed in gold, which was inside a cardboard gift box. The ‘drawer-style’ black gift box features an all-over starry sky background, with the Star Wars and Han Cholo logos embossed in silver on the front. The back of the box has smaller logos printed in white, this time with website addresses, together with the Disney logo and the text ‘For Ages Cool And Up’. The jewelry bag sits on a foam square inside the box – the whole packaging presentation is perfect for giving this item as a gift.
The design of the cuff features a two-tone sculpt of Darth Vader’s lightsaber (silver-tone for the hilt, gold-tone for the blade), with an antiqued finish. The ‘Star Wars’, ‘LFL’ and ‘Han Cholo’ copyright logos appear inside the lightsaber hilt, with the text ‘The Power Of The Dark Side’ inside the lightsaber blade. The lettering is recessed, and filled with black antiquing. A few letters on mine had a little ‘run off’ excess – this came off well enough with a bit of rubbing. The sculpt of Darth Vader’s lightsaber is really nice – as I expected, considering the detail in the rest of the collection. The tip of the lightsaber blade is pointed, but not enough to be sharp – the end is slightly rounded. While I’m not usually drawn to yellow-gold colours for jewelry, it looks amazing here and complements the lightsaber design well. The outer surfaces are shiny, while the inside has a brushed finished – the outer hilt surface also features black antiquing to highlight the details.
The design is ‘one size’ so I was of course very interested to see the actual dimensions of the cuff. Sculpted in a circle, the inside diameter is approximately 6.3cm across. The band measures approximately 16.8cm end to end (internally), with a gap of approximately 3.1cm (straight across, end to end). As it arrived, it was a little too big for me to wear securely – not that it falls off, but I do prefer my bracelets/bangles a little more fitted. With care, I was able to bend this just a little tighter, and now it’s a perfect size for me (with still a good gap for putting it on). Overall, this is a stunning piece of Star Wars jewelry, I am so happy to finally have it in my collection.
