I’m always looking for Star Wars jewelry designs that feel a little different to what I already own, so when Spencers released this Star Wars logo necklace back in November, I quickly bought it. While the classic Star Wars logo is very frequently used as the sole design on apparel, it is not as common for jewelry items – and I love the ‘cut out’ design of this pendant.
When it arrived, I was excited to see that this necklace is made by Loungefly! I’m a huge fan of their Star Wars handbag range, and I also own a few earlier Loungefly x Star Wars necklaces, so it’s nice to add another one to that collection. The necklace is still available from Spencers, and is priced at US$14.99 each (Spencers can ship internationally).
The necklace came packaged on a black cardboard jewelry backing card, with the chain neatly tucked into a clear plastic pocket on the back. The card features the standard Star Wars branding on the front and back, along with the Loungefly logo on the back. Neither the card or the Spencers website note what material the necklace is made from, so I’m not sure.
The necklace features a Star Wars logo pendant, with cut-outs. The pendant is hung from two lengths of chain that attach to the pendant by a ring at each upper corner of the pendant. I like two-chain necklaces – ‘landscape’ oriented pendants tend to swing too much to remain level when worn, so this method ensures it sits nicely. I did notice that the lower edge/line at the bottom of the last ‘S’ continues just a tiny bit further, which isn’t there on the first ‘S’- this doesn’t appear in the standard Star Wars logo, so perhaps it’s just a little design feature?
The Star Wars logo pendant measures approximately 60mm wide, 26mm tall, and 2mm deep. I was a little concerned the cut-outs might make the pendant a little prone to bending, but this isn’t the case, it’s very sturdy. The back of the pendant is stamped with ‘(c) LFL’, noting this is a licensed item. Together the two chains and pendant measure approximately 61cm long, with a further 8cm of adjustment chain.
Compared to my other Star Wars logo necklaces by Rock Rebel, this Loungefly version has a larger pendant, and longer chains with thinner links (also, the Rock Rebel necklaces were not adjustable in length). To me, this Loungefly necklace has a different ‘feel’ to it, compared to the Rock Rebel versions – the cut-out stencil style has a modern vibe which I really like. I can’t wait to wear this necklace, I get the feeling it’s going to be one of my ‘go to’ pieces of everyday Star Wars jewelry!
