Today’s review features the Princess Leia necklace made by Love And Madness. I am always on the lookout for Princess Leia themed fashion and accessories, so this necklace is a wonderful addition to my collection. I received it as a Christmas gift, and I have been wearing it constantly since then – especially since our beloved Carrie Fisher passed away.
My necklace is the version sold by ThinkGeek, so the packaging may differ to those sold direct by Love And Madness. It is was originally priced at US$17.99 each, but is no longer available from ThinkGeek – but don’t worry, it is still available direct from Love And Madness!

Princess Leia necklace (silver or gold) – US$15.00 each
The necklace came packaged on a cardboard backing card, with an all-over galaxy print on both sides. The front features the Star Wars and Love And Madness logos, while the rest of the necklace chain is tucked into a clear plastic pocket on the back. The necklace was also ‘twisty-tied’ to the card, so it wouldn’t move around in the mail – something I quite appreciate when buying online.
The Princess Leia necklace is made from gold plated brass, and features an ’emoji’ style pendant of Princess Leia in her most famous hairstyle from A New Hope. The face area is recessed, with only 2 small raises dots for her eyes. The simple design is just brilliant – so many companies avoid using ‘human face’ Star Wars characters, even though they are the main characters! The pendant combines cute with stylish, celebrating Princess Leia in a design that works with any outfit.
The pendant measures approximately 15mm by 16mm (not including the hanger ring). This is a perfect little size – any bigger and it would start to lose some of the subtly of the design. I personally don’t mind ‘big and bold’ Star Wars jewelry, but this necklace is something everyone can wear, anywhere. The gold coated finish is gorgeous and shiny, certainly befitting a Princess.
The gold-tone necklace chain measures approximately 41cm in length, with a further 11cm of wider link adjustment chain. The adjustment chain is a little longer than often seen, but it is nice to have a decent amount to suit your preferred length. The clasp is a gold-tone lobster-style clasp – I really like the shape Love And Madness uses for their necklace clasps.
The adjustment chain features 2 small gold-tone pendants – a small ‘heart’ shape pendant with the letter ‘M’ (the logo for Love And Madness), while the end of the adjustment chain features a small Star Wars logo pendant.
The Star Wars pendant measures approximately 15mm by 8mm, while the heart pendant measures approximately 10mm by 9mm. The heart pendant is double sided (same on both sides), while the back of the Star Wars pendant is flat, with the Lucasfilm copyright stamp ‘© LFL’. While the end of a necklace isn’t usually very visible when wearing, I always appreciate little extra details like this. The back of the Princess Leia pendant also features the Love And Madness ‘M’ logo and Lucasfilm copyright text.
This necklace proves that you can make stylish and subtle Princess Leia jewelry – I’m so happy to see Love And Madness include her in their range. I wear this necklace so much, I want to get the silver version as well, to coordinate with different outfits. I would love to see Love And Madness use this design for matching accessories (like earrings, a ring, or bracelet) to really complete the look.
