Today’s review features the Body Vibe x Star Wars Solo Dice threaded drop earrings. The gold-tone earrings are ‘thread style’ dangle earrings, with a slender bar for inserting through pierced ears, with a length of dangle chain. The earrings feature small 3D sculpted versions of Han Solo’s lucky dice, as seen in Solo and The Last Jedi.
The earrings are priced at US$11.64 to US$12.13 per pair – shipping rates/policies vary by Amazon seller (international customers can order via a US mail forwarding service).
Solo Dice Threaded Drop Earrings – US$11.64 to US$12.13 per pair
The earrings came packaged on a black plastic backing card, with the Star Wars and Disney logos printed on the front. The backing card was also packaged inside a clear plastic sleeve, which helps contain the long chains safely, but I removed it for easier photography – and I was eager to have a closer look at these earrings the moment they arrived!
The back of the backing card notes the usual care/age notes, item name, barcode, and country of manufacture. The back also features the Disney logo, and the url for the official Star Wars website, indicating this is a licensed item. While not mentioned on the packaging, the Amazon website listing notes the earrings are made of ‘base metal’.
The earrings are secured onto the backing card by passing the chain length through small holes in the card, with two small clear plastic tubes slid onto the earrings to hold them in place.
The earrings feature small 3D sculpted dice pendants, attached to fine gold-tone chains with a slender rod at the other end. Thread earrings are worn by inserting the rod through an ear piercing and pulling through, so the chain is sitting through your ear. The dice pendants hang from the front, while the slender rods hang from the back.
I love thread style earrings, but until now, I have not seen licensed Star Wars thread earrings before! The small dice pendants work so well for this ‘dainty’ earring style.
The dice pendants are miniature versions of Han Solo’s ‘lucky dice’, as seen in Solo and also in The Last Jedi. Each side features a different shape, which is recessed. Some of the shapes include diamond, square, hexagon, circle (and even one that reminds me of a cupcake!).
The dice pendants, like other items in the Solo Dice inspired range of jewelry, are perfect for fans who prefer more subtle Star Wars jewelry. The dice are only recognisable to Star Wars fans, and look like abstract jewelry, especially when viewed from the usual distance you would stand apart from someone.
On one side, each of the dice features the recessed text ‘©LFL’, which notes these are licensed earrings. The text is very small, and will go unnoticed unless looking very closely – or enlarged in photos like the one above. This is the only Star Wars branding on the earrings, which is obviously not going to be noticed by anyone when wearing.
The dice pendants are accented with black antiquing, which highlights the recessed designs. This gives the pendants a little more of an ‘old gold’ colouring, compared to the shiny gold of the thread chains, but the contrast is minimal.
The dice pendants are quite small, measuring approximately 5mm across each edge (as a cube shape). This is perfect for fans who can’t/don’t like wearing heavy earrings with pierced ears, and really ties in nicely with the slender design.
The end of the slender thread chains are attached to thin rod, which is used to thread the earrings through an ear piercing. The rod is the same diameter (thickness) as a standard stud earring backing post, so it will fit through your ear piercing comfortably.
With this style of earring, you can choose the length of the pendant drops – you can wear the earrings with the dice closer to your ears and a long length of chain hanging behind, or keep the rod and dice hanging at the same level. These earrings are also less likely to ‘fall out’ when wearing, compared to standard hook-style dangle earrings.
The chain lengths measure approximately 10.2cm long, while the rods measure approximately 1.8cm long. The full earring length, including rod and dice pendant is approximately 13.2cm.
I absolutely love the Solo Dice range of jewelry by Body Vibe – I have been collecting up every piece I can get my hands on! I have to say, I think this is my favourite design from the range so far – so lovely and delicate, I can wear them with anything!
If you have two or more piercings in each ear, you can pair these threaded earrings with the cute Solo dice stud earrings (also made by Body Vibe) for a matching look!
