In late October Hot Topic added a new TIE Fighter necklace to the website, which was described as a long necklace. I love TIE Fighter (and X-Wing) themed accessories, so I picked it up during a sale. Usually priced at US$10.50, I paid US$7.87 – it is still available. I had assumed (due to the price point) that this necklace was made by Bioworld or Loungefly – when it arrived, the backing card notes this is from SG@NYC, LLC. I have never come across this brand before – it’s always great to discover another licensed Star Wars accessory company.
The necklace features Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced X1. What immediately struck me was the size and shape of the TIE Fighter – it’s completely 3D. There is no flat back to the pendant, it’s almost as if a small toy has been dipped in metal. The pendant measures approximately 3.1cm wide, 2cm high, and 2.3cm deep. The TIE Fighter sculpt has great detail, and is very solid – the pendant hangs from the necklace from a ring above the cockpit. The necklace is indeed a ‘long’ necklace – clasped at the shortest length I can easily slip it over my head. The chain is a thin style, which is interesting compared to the chunkiness of the pendant. The chain measures approximately 62cm long, with a further 8cm for adjustment. The clasp is a standard ‘lobster’ style, and the end of the adjustment chain has a little pendant stamped with ‘(c) LFL’. Because of the pendant’s size and shape, it’s a little prone to ‘bouncing around’ when wearing, but it’s definitely an eye catching necklace!
