For the 2016 Run Disney Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland, Dooney & Bourke released a new range of Star Wars handbags. The new print features classic characters, symbols and vehicles in a fun colour scheme of pink, green and orange. I love the print – I wouldn’t have though the colour combination would work, but it does. The range includes three handbag styles – the satchel (largest), the letter carrier/crossbody (mid size), and the pouchette (smallest).
I was a little disappointed to see that the main material for all three bags is fabric, not leather (the handles/accents are still leather). This means that the white background is a little prone to marks/dirt, especially with use – a friend returned hers shortly after purchasing as it already had a mark, when brand new. The bag itself doesn’t mention the Run Disney event – this is noted on the special leather tag that can be removed. The lining for all three handbags is pink, to coordinate with the pink used on the outer print.
Left over stock went on sale at Disneyland/Downtown Disney shortly after the event – there are quite a few available on ebay at the moment, for those who are keen to pick one up. I am curious to see if this same print will used for handbags at the upcoming Star Wars Half Marathon event at Walt Disney World in April – perhaps a black background version for the ‘Dark Side Challenge’ theme, or perhaps three different handbag styles? In any case, I wish I had been able to buy one myself (expensive international travel unfortunately cut into my shopping budget), but it was fun to see these in person 🙂
