There has been some exciting Star Wars fashion collaborations from Asian designers recently – including two Star Wars runway collections, and an upcoming handbag range. Chinese news website Jing Daily has an article about an upcoming Star Wars bag collection from designer Wu Yingnan for the leather handbag label Rfactory. There are photos of a Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker clutch (with LED-illuminated lightsabers!), a BB-8 clutch, a Darth Vader backpack, and a clutch with colourful Imperial Star Destroyers! I love the whole collection – read more at Jing Daily.
At Mercedes Benz China Fashion Week in late October, the Spring/Summer 2016 runway collection from Taiwanese designer label Gioia Pan featured a Star Wars theme. Many of the models wore or carried Darth Vader masks, and Gioia Pan designer Pan Yiliang walked the runway carrying a lightsaber at the conclusion of the show. The collection included several women’s Star Wars pieces, like a Darth Maul top, a Stormtrooper top, and a jacket featuring a print of Star Wars characters names. Also at Mercedes Benz China Fashion Week, the designer label Liujia showcased a Star Wars ‘Parent-Child Outfit’ collection, which included a few women’s Star Wars garments (as well as girls). My favourite pieces are the long jacket with Darth Vader and Stormtrooper on the sleeves, and the colourful printed dress – read more at ChinaFashionWeek.org.
